Maybe it's starting to make sense why the DCT is referred to as an automated manual transmission. The DCT functions similarly to a regular manual transmission in theory because it has input and auxiliary shafts for gears, synchronizers, and a clutch. It lacks a clutch pedal because the actual shifting is handled by computers, solenoids, and hydraulics. The driver can still "teach" the computer when to act even without a clutch pedal by using paddles, buttons, or a shifter.
So the driving experience is just one of the many benefits of a Dual Clutch Transmission. Many believe that the DCT gives the most dynamic acceleration of any vehicle on the market since upshifts happen in under 8 milliseconds. By removing the shift shock that comes with gearshifts in manual transmissions and even some automatics, it undoubtedly provides smooth acceleration. The best part is that it gives drivers the freedom to decide whether they want to manually shift or let the computer do everything.
